Dear 1st graders,

Tidy Teddy came to visit me at Emory Medical School, where my classmates and I are studying to become doctors.  Emory University is located in Atlanta, Georgia.  Atlanta is 250 miles from Nashville and it takes 4 hours to get there by car.  This picture is with some of my friends in my small group — Katie, Kat, Lauren and Steven.  We’re in the cardio module so we used our stethoscope to make sure that Tidy Teddy’s heartbeat was nice and strong, which it was!! Tidy Teddy had a great time visiting Emory Medical School!

Dear Friends,

I had so much fun on my trip to Florida that I took photographs of some of my favorite memories. I jumped on a gigantic bed and almost got lost in it.  Can you find me in the photo?  I ate wonderful food, like apples, bananas, and popcorn. Yum!  Because the weather was warm, I sometimes ate outside, but I discovered this could be a problem-the birds wanted my food even more than I did.  The birds would swoop down and grab my food before I could even put it in my mouth.  Can you believe it? I walked in the sand on the beach everyday with my friends and collected sea shells and pretended I was sailing my own sailboat.

Of all the fun things to do in Florida, my very favorite was watching the sunsets.  Every night I would sit and watch the sun get smaller and smaller in the sky, until it disappeared.  When the sun finally disappeared from the sky, everyone on the beach would clap.  It was a giant party celebrating nature. I can’t wait to come home to Nashville and watch the beautiful Tennessee sunsets.

Hugs,

Dear Ms. England’s class,

I went to a Houston Rockets game with 2 of my coworkers and I got a picture of Tidy Teddy at the game. The Houston Rockets are a professional basketball team that play in the National Basketball Association (NBA).  Houston is 790 miles from Nashville.  It would take 12 ½ hours in the car to get there!  Tidy Teddy had a great time!

Cheers,

Dear Friends,

I made a wonderful discovery today… If you want to learn something new, ask questions!  I love airplanes and was excited that I was going to fly on a plane to Florida with Miss England’s Mom.  I wanted to learn about flying, so I asked the very nice people who work at Air Tran Airways some questions.  Before I knew it, I met the pilot of the place, Captain Bill. He invited me to come on the plane with him and sit in the cockpit, which is the part of the airplane where only pilots are allowed.  It had many, many dials and gauges that measure important things to keep the plane flying safely.  Captain Bill let me sit in his seat and told me he has been flying planes a long time.  He used to live in Illinois but got tired of the cold winters, so now he lives in Florida. He was so kind and so happy to help me experience what it feels like to fly a plane. I met a very kind flight attendant, who was kind, helpful, and help make my trip to Florida extra special.

I will never forget Captain Bill and all the kind people at Air Tran Airways who gave me the experience of a lifetime.  And remember- if you want to learn something new, ask questions.  Exciting things may be around the corner!

Hugs,

Hello Ms England’s class,

Tidy Teddy traveled with Marjorie and Sally to the Field Museum in downtown Chicago, Illinois on March 5th.  The Field Museum building is 117 year old, and it sits on the shore of Lake Michigan, which is the second largest lake in the United States. Teddy saw lots of cool stuff, including Sue, the largest preserved dinosaur skeleton in the world. Teddy says Hi to the class!

See you again soon!

Dear 1st graders,

Tidy Teddy had the opportunity of visiting Disney World. The weather was chilly, but he had a great time. His favorite was Pluto – they became great friends on this adventure. It took Tidy Teddy 13 hours to get to Disney from Nashville, and he was very tired upon his arrival. He rested up before heading over to Disney to visit with the characters. In this picture, Tidy Teddy had the opportunity to eat breakfast with Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy. He had a great time, and is excited to return to your class!

Sincerely,

Ms. Pierce (former Ross Elementary teacher)

Dear Ms. England’s class,

Tidy Teddy went with me to The Great Smokey Mountains!  My grandchildren live in Pittman Center, which is really close to Gatlinburg.  When you look out their windows you see this beautiful view of the mountains.  Jack, Will, and Craig enjoyed visiting with Tidy Teddy.

Dear 1st graders,

Tidy Teddy has been having a very busy few months and is a little run down. In order to make sure that he is ok to continue his travels around the country, Tidy Teddy took a trip to the doctor in Chicago.

Before the doctor could come in, the nurses put him on an exam bed and took his temperature. Since he did not have a fever, Dr. Soleymani came in to perform his check up. He gave Tidy Teddy a physical exam and made sure to use his stethascope to check Tidy Teddy’s heartbeat.

The good news is that Tidy Teddy is in good shape! Because of his great health, we put him to work answering the phones, so that he could help schedule appointments. He did a great job and was very nice and polite to everyone that he talked to on the phone. After a day of hard work, Tidy Teddy deserved a little pampering, so he got a cosmetic treatment to make his skin shine bright and make him look fantastic.

Love Miss England’s best friend,

Sara
