Grand Canyon, Arizona

September 17, 2012

Dear Ms. England’s Class,

Recently, Tidy Teddy and I went to the Grand Canyon, the biggest canyon in the whole world! We hiked all the way down from the top of the North Rim to the Colorado River, which was 28 miles round trip! The canyon has gotten so big because of the river carving its way through the canyon over thousands and thousands of years. You can’t even see the whole thing at once! Millions of people every year come to the Grand Canyon to both look at how big it is and travel down to the river.

Love,
Mr. Perkins

Phoenix, Arizona

Dear Miss England’s class,

Hello from Phoenix, Arizona! Phoenix is in the south west United States and would take over a day to drive from Nashville. So Tidy Teddy flew on an airplane for his visit and it only took about three hours. Phoenix is a desert climate, which means most of the year it is very hot and dry!

We had a lot of fun with Tidy Teddy. He quickly made friends with my three dogs and all we went camping together! Teddy helped to set up a tent for us to sleep in, and then we started a campfire. We cooked our dinner over the campfire and sat next to it to warm up when the sun went down. The next day we went for a hike and explored Arizona – everyone was so tired we slept in the car on the way home!

When we got back to Phoenix, Teddy and I went on a bike ride together. We talked about how it is important to wear a helmet to stay safe on the bike and Teddy had a special blue helmet to wear.

We had a great visit and Teddy is welcome back in Phoenix anytime!

Sincerely,
Emily, Andrew, Milo, Mocha, and Annabelle
