Chilamate, Costa Rica

Buenos Dias Ms. England’s Class,

Wow! What an incredible summer I have had. Believe it or not, I just took a trip to Costa Rica! Costa Rica is a country located below the United States in an area called Central America. It is a very hot and beautiful place that is home to thousands of unique animals, such as snakes, monkeys, and strange-looking bugs. Not only do they have a diverse group of animals, but they also grow many of the foods we enjoy, including pineapples, bananas, and coffee.  I was fortunate to be able to stay in a rainforest lodge (and yes, it rains a lot in the rainforest!!!) in an area called Chilamate. It was absolutely amazing, and I had a great time. I can’t wait to see all of you back in the classroom!
Love,
Tidy Teddy

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

Dear Miss England’s class,

Costa Rica is a democratic country located in Central America.    Costa Rica was colonized in the 1500’s by Spanish explorers.    Spanish continues to be the primary language of its people.   The climate is tropical allowing for a very rich agricultural industry.   Costa Rica’s primary exports are Bananas (thanks TT), Pineapples and Coffee.   On this day, Tidy Teddy helped a group of accountants assist their client in harvesting Bananas.    A banana plant takes 9 months from seedling to harvest.   The process continues to be very labor intensive. Costa Ricans live on/or near the banana farm that their parents, grandparents and great grandparents lived.   The children go to local schools, built and sponsored by the banana companies.

Love,

Mr. England
